The Home Depot: Christmas Light Trade In Event! Recycle Incandescent Lights & Save On LED Lights!

Thinking about getting those Christmas decorations out yet?  You KNOW I am…and for a variety of reasons.

1.)  My kids want Christmas to last forever.  Decorating the first week of November drags it on for two whole months.  Ahem, yay…
2.)  It takes me nearly the entire two months to finish decorating.
3.)  It takes my husband, Clark Griswold Jr.,  just about as long to decorate outside.

And I figure we must not be alone in this endeavor because, starting today (11/1), The Home Depot will recycle our old, broken or used incandescent holiday string lights and offer us nice discounts on LED lights.

There is a limit of 5 discounts per customer and the savings are as follows:

  • $3.00/1 Home Accents Holiday Led Lights
  • $4.00/1 Martha Stewart Living or GE Led Lights
  • $5.00/1 EcoSmart  or LightShow LED Lights

Details: Offer valid through November 14th, 2012.  Valid only on single receipt in-store purchase of LED lights.  Continental US< HI, AK, Guam, PR and USVI.  May not be combined with any other offer, promotion, or special incentive program or used as payment on any Home Depot credit account.

Home Depot (FB): Zombie Mulch Game! Win $5, $10 or $15 Coupon!

Home Depot has a new game that’s very spookily appropriate for the season.  Mulch a bunch of Zombies, while avoiding obstacles like road barracades, construction cones, downed trees, etc., and you can win a $5, $10 or $15 Home Depot coupon!  Make sure you get some magnets as power ups to increase your longevity, and all the x2 to increase your mulching power.

Having tried this myself, I found that you have to mulch 1000 ft3 of Zombies to get a $5 coupon.  This is no small feat and will take quite some time to achieve.  Be sure and avoid the obstacles. Hit four and the game is over.  The lucky advantage in this game is that the total cubic feet of zombies mulched accrues.  Keep playing the game to get to 1000 ft3 or more.

Thanks, My Frugal Adventures!

Home Depot: Weekly Ad 6/28-7/4! Solar Light Post Caps $4.88!

Before I say ANYTHING, know that the Home Depot ads are notoriously regional. What is available for me in Michigan may not be available for you in Texas or wherever you are.

And keep in mind that you can buy online and pick your items up in-store!

Now, you may be wondering why I’m posting these deals since I don’t usually post too many from Home Depot.   Well, I’ve had MORE than a handful of readers ask about this one particular item over the last couple of months:

Starting tomorrow (6/28 according to my ad), Home Depot will have Solar Light Post Caps for $4.88 each.   While supplies last is no joke.  These will sell out quickly at this price if my readership is any indication of interest.

And here are a few more things you may want to take a look at while you’re there…

Our flag is starting to look a bit worn, so it’s a good time to replace it.

If gardening isn’t your forte, pick up some hostas.  They surround our patio and on each corner we have daylilies.  It’s a very low maintenance yet stunning look.    Our patio does receive full sun, so I have to water them CONSTANTLY to keep them healthy.  If you’re unfamiliar with hostas, they do much better in a shady environment.

A lot of our readers here use only a window air conditioner in the bedroom.  Tolerating heat when you’re awake is one thing, but it’s nice to have a cool sleeping area.  For many, that’s more than sufficient.  This is a great way to cut the cost of whole house cooling.

We have a similar chest freezer in our basement that we use for our frozen stock up items.

Freshen up your sandbox in time for the 4th with a great price on play sand!  We’re finishing a patio area for the kids and this also makes a nice base for the stonework.

Nope, it isn’t the best price we’ve seen all year.  But if you need it, it’s not bad at $3.44 per bag.

We use colorbowls to dress up our front porch steps and for table centerpieces.  It’s a beautiful look, and I’ll be picking some of these up tomorrow.  I’ll still get several months of use out of these since they’ll be up off the ground when it gets cool.

Finally, patio furniture and accessories are up to 50% off.  Hold off, if you can, for the big markdowns at the end of the summer season.

If you find any great in-store prices while you’re there, snap a pic and I’ll match-em-up and post your fab finds!
