Basic Pirate Lingo:

Ahoy!“Hello!”
Avast!
- Stop and give attention. It can be used in a sense of surprise, “Whoa! Get a load of that!” which today makes it more of a “Check it out” or “No way!”
Aye!
“Why yes, I agree most heartily with everything you just said or did.”
Aye aye!
“I’ll get right on that sir, as soon as my break is over.”
Arrr!
– This one is often confused with arrrgh, which is of course the sound you make when you sit on a belaying pin. “Arrr!” can mean, variously, “yes,” “I agree,” “I’m happy,” “I’m enjoying this Diet Coke.”

Pirate Jokes (Harrdy-haarr-haarr):

Q: What is a pirate’s favorite kind of cookie A: Ships Ahoy!
Q: Whay are pirates so mean? A: I don’t know they just aaarrgghhh!
Q: What to pirate’s like to eat? A: Barrrrbeque!

Thanks for this great list, Time 2 Save Workshops!

(Reminder)

Wouldn’t you love to take your kids around the world?  I would!  Well, maybe not to SOME places, but definitely more places than not.   But since I don’t have the money for such things, I’ll have to settle for free craft projects at Michael’s!  Haha!

Michael’s Passport to Imagination continues today from 1-4pm for ages 3 and up where they’ll be making this:

Now, here’s the part where I’m supposed to show some inner genius and tell you what this is.  Hmmm, I’m at a loss.  It may be because I’ve only had half a cup of coffee at 8:45 or because it’s some kind of Madagascarian utensil I’ve never seen before.  Anyhoo, take any kids you have ages 3 and up and make this…thing.  It looks neat!  Does that count?!?  So sad.

<insert time lapse>

And because I can’t take it, I found out what it is!  A RAIN STICK!

I love to do projects like these with my kids to help instill a sense of gratitute for the sacrifice of our military.  And the take home t-shirt is a nice reminder of their participation in something bigger than themselves.

The AC Moore Summer Fun Series kicks off today, June 27th from 1-3pm.  You can purchase a white t-shirt and create a Simply Spray Patriotic t-shirt for free and make a card for the troops.

Their goal is to have 10,000 cards made, so go on in and create a card.  You don’t need to purchase a t-shirt to participate in the card decorating.

These projects are geared for children ages 4 and up. All are held on Wednesday from 1-3pm.

July 11th – Make your own Nicole Crafts Visor with Creative Hands Foam Stickers and Markers

Family Fun: Free Fishing Days List!

Did you know that most states offer a day or more of free fishing?  Haha, know what I originally typed?   Free shipping.  Dumb-dee-dumb-dumb.  These are designated days that anyone can fish without a license to do so.

I have many childhood memories of my father, but those that stand out most are the times he took me fishing.  We lived across the street from the lake and he’d take me over behind Grandpa Schultz’s house to fish…with Grandpa Schultz’s rod that he’d given me.  No, he wasn’t my Grandpa.  And yet, he was.  That wonderful man was in his late 70′s around that same time frame, so he was born around 1900.  And yes, he’s been gone for considerably longer than my Dad, but I’ll never forget him.

Here is an extremely comprehensive list of free fishing days around the country.  I hope you have the time to create some fabulous memories with those you love…and catch something more than the small sunfish (Rock Bass)  I always caught.

Thanks, FST!
